Business relocation

Commercial moves get messy when the plan is vague.

Use labels, access notes, equipment protection, and loading order so the team is not deciding everything in the moment.

01

Office furniture

Plan desks, chairs, tables, shelving, and shared spaces with clear destination notes.

02

Equipment handling

Keep sensitive or high-attention items separated and clearly identified before loading.

03

Timing control

Coordinate access, business hours, parking, and team communication around the move window.

Workspace flow

Labels and destination notes reduce downtime.

  • Map where desks, boxes, and equipment should land.
  • Confirm building access and loading zones.
  • Separate items that need extra care or special handling notes.

Process

How a workplace move is coordinated

A business move is judged on how quickly work resumes, not on how fast the truck is loaded. The plan has to account for that.

01

Map the destination first

Desks, equipment, and storage need assigned positions at the new space before anything leaves the old one. Unloading into an unplanned floor plan creates days of follow-up work.

02

Label to the position

Workplace labeling points to a specific desk or zone, not just a room. Matching signage at the destination is what makes that labeling useful.

03

Handle equipment deliberately

Monitors, machines, and networking hardware need their own handling and their own reconnection plan. Cable and configuration notes are worth capturing before disconnection.

04

Work around the business

Timing is built around when the space can be occupied and when the business can afford to be down. Building access rules often decide this more than preference does.

05

Confirm before the crew leaves

Walk the space, check the inventory, and confirm placement while the crew is still on site.

Quote factors

What shapes a commercial quote

Workplace moves vary more than residential ones, so the review matters more.

  • Number of workstations and the total volume
  • Equipment that needs separate handling
  • Building access rules, loading dock availability, and elevator booking
  • Whether the move happens outside business hours
  • How much disassembly and reassembly is required
  • Whether anything needs storage between spaces
  • How quickly the business needs to be operational again

Before you ask

Have this ready when you request a quote

  • Current and new addresses
  • Workstation count and approximate square footage
  • A floor plan for the new space if one exists
  • Building access rules and dock or elevator arrangements at both ends
  • Equipment that needs particular handling
  • The window during which the business can be down

Common questions

What to know before requesting a quote.

Can the move happen outside business hours?

Timing is agreed during the quote and is often driven by building access rules as much as by preference. Say what window works when you describe the job.

Do you handle IT equipment?

Equipment handling is reviewed as part of the quote. Disconnection, reconnection, and configuration are usually kept with whoever manages the systems, so agree that split early.

How should we label a workplace move?

Label to a destination position rather than a room, and post matching signage at the new space before the crew arrives. The box labeling guide covers the underlying system.

Can you move us in phases?

Phased moves are common when a business cannot stop entirely. Describe which departments or functions move when, and it can be planned as a sequence.

What if the new space is not ready on time?

Raise it as soon as you know. Storage between spaces is coordinated case by case and is much easier to arrange before loading than after.
